Our purpose is to make the complex simple.

We bring clarity and confidence to your financial life so you can move forward with peace of mind.

Two Firms, One Shared Mission

Our two independent but closely connected firms — Yoshida Wealth Management and Hara Yoshida Accounting — enable us to handle all of our clients financial needs through one integrated, holistic ecosystem optimized for big-picture decision-making. Our mission is to serve Japanese individuals and families, U.S.-Japanese couples, and Japanese business owners with integrity, empathy, humility, and respect. We are here to simplify the complex and help you move forward with clarity and confidence.

For founder Narumi Yoshida, this mission is deeply personal. Born and raised in Japan, he understands the challenges of navigating two countries, two systems, and the cultural differences that shape financial decisions. His journey — from tax accountant, to financial advisor, to financial therapist — reflects a lifelong commitment to guiding clients not just through numbers, but through life’s biggest and most personal transitions.

As a Japanese-English bilingual advisor, Narumi strives to create spaces where clients feel safe, understood, and supported — able to discuss important issues in the language and style most natural to them. For him, this work is more than a profession; it is a lifelong commitment to provide the same care he would want for his own family.

Client Stories

Honoring Those We Serve

A Retired Japanese Woman in Connecticut

When she first came to us, she had just inherited significant assets and felt completely overwhelmed. The paperwork seemed endless — estate, fiduciary, and income tax returns, plus ongoing reporting requirements — and she wasn’t sure if everything was being handled correctly.

Her dream was to move back to Japan to be closer to family, but that brought even more questions: How would her U.S. accounts be taxed once she became a Japanese resident? What would happen to her retirement income? How could she simplify her finances before making such a big transition? Step by step, we created a coordinated plan — organizing her inheritance, ensuring filings were accurate, and preparing for her eventual move. Today, she feels lighter and more at ease, knowing she doesn’t have to face these decisions alone and that her next chapter is thoughtfully planned.

A Japanese Couple Preparing for Retirement in New Jersey

This couple approached retirement with mixed emotions. They had worked hard and saved diligently, but weren’t sure how all the pieces fit together — U.S. retirement accounts, Japanese pensions, and Social Security. They worried about whether their savings would be enough to maintain their lifestyle and if they were paying more taxes than necessary.

Together, we organized everything into one coordinated plan. By mapping out how their income sources would work together under the U.S.–Japan tax treaty, we gave them both clarity and a clear strategy for the years ahead. Today, they are enjoying retirement, confident their finances are aligned and relieved that they can focus on living fully, without constant uncertainty.

A Japanese-Owned Business in New York

As the owner of a small creative design firm, she poured her energy into serving clients and growing her vision. But behind the scenes, she was buried in bookkeeping, payroll, and tax deadlines. Late nights spent wrestling with numbers left her anxious — always worried she might miss something important or make a costly mistake.

When we stepped in, we streamlined everything, so nothing would slip through the cracks. For the first time in years, she felt real relief. Her business became organized and compliant, but more importantly, she regained time and peace of mind. Now, instead of worrying about paperwork, she can focus on creativity, growth, and the parts of her business she loves most.

A U.S.–Japanese International Couple in Japan

This couple had built their lives in the U.S. but dreamed of retiring in Japan. The idea was exciting, yet overwhelming: What would happen to their Social Security? How would their U.S. retirement accounts be taxed as Japanese residents? Could they keep their U.S. investments — and how would healthcare work abroad?

At first, every answer seemed to raise three new questions. We guided them through the transition step by step, clarifying how the U.S.–Japan tax treaty applied to their income, designing a withdrawal strategy for their retirement accounts, and coordinating with a Japanese CPA to ensure nothing was overlooked. They are now enjoying retirement in Japan with confidence — living the life they envisioned.

Mako Tagawa, EA

Tax Accountant

Before joining HYA, I worked in the media industry, but my adventurous spirit led me to pursue a new path in tax and accounting. I now bring that creative perspective to supporting clients with tax returns, payroll, and bookkeeping. Having once been a newcomer to the world of taxes, I understand how confusing it can feel, so I focus on clear and reassuring communication. Outside of work, I love movies and learning new things — it keeps me inspired and refreshed.

Yukie Oester, EA, LTC

Tax ACCOUNTANT

I help clients with tax returns, payroll, bookkeeping, and IRS correspondence, supporting them in all financial and tax-related areas. Before becoming a tax professional, I was a stay-at-home mom who knew nothing about taxes. Because of my own experiences, I understand how confusing and stressful taxes can be. My goal is to provide clear, accurate, and timely support, so that clients feel confident and well cared for throughout the process.

Setsuko Ichikawa

Administrative Assistant

I support clients with administrative tasks, billing, and payroll processing, ensuring everything runs smoothly and on time. Clear and timely communication is a top priority for me. I strive to be not only efficient but also courteous and approachable, so that clients always feel understood and supported. Outside of work, I enjoy playing music, which helps me relax, recharge and stay balanced.

Naoko Yoshida

Client Support Assistant

My career has centered around helping people stay organized and connected. In previous roles, I supported executives and clients in bilingual (Japanese/English) environments, coordinating schedules, documents, and communication across teams. I enjoy creating structure and clarity so that both clients and our team can work smoothly. Having lived and worked across cultures, I strive to bridge gaps through thoughtful communication and reliable follow-through. Outside of work, I like to stay active and continue learning new skills that enhance both my personal and professional life.

Nicole Mastrantonakis

Operations Manager

As Operations Manager, I work behind the scenes to ensure everything runs smoothly for our staff and day-to-day operations. While I don’t work directly with clients, my role is all about supporting the people who do by keeping systems efficient and our team supported. Outside of work, I’m an avid gardener with a love for vegetable gardening, though my real passion lies in nurturing native plants and creating spaces that support local ecosystems.
